Older homes are charming and beautiful. That’s why people love them. But the original windows, beautiful as they are, can be drafty and cold, sticky and hard to operate, plus difficult to clean.
At Phoenix Window, we can renovate your original wood windows into energy-efficient, easy to use, great-looking windows without the expense of replacement. The patented Bi-Glass® process works with casement windows, double-hung windows, awning and picture windows, too. Odd shapes and sizes such as round-top windows are no problem either. Even multi-light windows can become energy efficient with the Bi-Glass® System.
How does it work? First, we measure your windows for new insulated glass units. Next, the old sash is taken out, cavities in the frame are filled with insulation, and “hidden” balances are installed to replace the rope & pulley system. The wood sash are routed so the double-pane glass will fit. This new glass will keep heat in during the winter and the hot sun out during the summer. Next, weather stripping is added to the sashes and parting stops in the jambs. Finally, the completed weather-tight sash is re-installed and functionality is restored.
Phoenix Window has been serving Colorado as the exclusive licensee for the patented Bi-Glass® System for over thirteen years, and we’ve renovated thousands of vintage wood windows throughout the state. Call us to learn more and visit the Bi-Glass® website at www.Bi-Glass.com
